Hey Dickie, no reason why those two things can't converge.

Let's think big.

it kicks ass to live in a city that produces what seems like 10 to 20% of the national content for PRI and NPR.

Three words: This. American. Life. That alone makes Chi-town a public radio GOD among lowly mortals.

I'm hoping I can write something similar in nine years' time.

(uh, I mean about realizing your true calling - not being a public radio god.)

What a lovely story. It's so great that you found what you were meant to do...and very inspiring for those of us who are still questing about for the "right" job!

Life is good! Thanks for the post - it provided a great break in an otherwise boring day.

Glad you found your calling - its good when everything fits, isn't it?

I'm with NotShy - long live not-for-profit radio. (We have The Mix even out here in the boonies.) (Although, I am ashamed to admit, I don't know about Amy's Ice Cream.)

Sounds like a wonderful day!

We have a planning retreat coming up next Saturday...in the basement of a local UCC church that has a labyrinth.

I'd love to hear more about what you did with the vigil....having seen, and led, good ones and bad ones. (Remember my first year at the church in Houston and CU made me MC of some disastrous version with family skits that was truly, truly bizarre?)

I miss KPFT, though it kicks ass to live in a city that produces what seems like 10 to 20% of the national content for PRI and NPR. Long live not-for-profit radio! I'm betting The Mix (doesn't every city have one of those?) would never play Carrie.
