We just got back from the orthopedist, and Miss M will NOT need to wear a brace for her hip dysplasia!

The ultrasound showed that yes, the hip sockets have not formed exactly perfectly, but once again, the doctor was not able to get either of them to dislocate. So everything appears to be fine. However, given that there is family history since I had it as a baby, we will have another ultrasound in about a month, and the doc will see her again in six weeks. If things are still in this borderline range, he may think about an x-ray some time in the future.

For now, we are glad not to have to deal with The Contraption, which still makes me cry to look at.

    Praise be!

I’m still trying to figure out how they got that baby in the picture to smile…

    Blessings on your house!

Great news! I’m with ChicagoRev - what did they do to make that baby smile?

I was hoping to get over to your part of the world prior to leaving for the Gulf Coast, but I think things will be too crazy. I’ll bring you back pictures…

I’m so happy for you all!

But, seriously, why is that baby smiling?

(And if you think a brace looks awful, picture the surgery Molly Dog had for her hip dysplasia, which involved screws in her pelvis. It still makes me sick to think about it!)

Thank goodness! Almost made me cry every time Dad would talk about how he was physically restrained as an infant with eczema so he couldn’t scratch himself. I’m with everyone who wonders how they got that baby to smile…..

Good news, indeed. We’re still praying.

    ha ha, ppb!

Ok, I don’t think the kid in the photo is smiling. And its really freaky. I think if you were to stare at that long enough his/her head would turn all the way around and spewing would commence.

    Whoot!

If I can find it, I’ll post a picture of me in the 1960’s version of that thing. I wasn’t supposed to be able to walk with it on, but I did. I’m not smiling in my pic, but I am sucking my thumb. :-)

I know Baby M’s problems are important and you have just had such good news but could I just beg everyone’s forgiveness and ask for prayers for my niece and hubby who, we have just heard, kissed their precious firstborn good-bye this morning after only a few short hours of life.

I’m sorry, but I don’t know who else to tell.

Our hearts go out to you and your family Karen.

I’m pretty sure the smile was photo-shopped in.

    Terrific news, RM.

Karen, I’m so sorry. How dreadful. There are no words.

Karen, of course it’s right to share that here. I’m so sorry. It’s just awful, and I can’t imagine the heartbreak, for all of you.

Thank you all so, so much. I will be sure to tell them how far your prayers are coming from.
