Tomorrow morning I drive to Small City Down the Interstate to meet Laid-back Clergypal. (Behold how many blog-pseudonyms I can cram into one post!) Last time we met before Christmas, and I was a huge house. This time he’ll be able to meet the former occupant of that house. We’re meeting at the IHOP. Sweet!

Then I’m back for a few hours, then I leave for the Presbyterian Uber-Committee meeting. I’ll need to leave by 4:30 or 5 because traffic bites in Your Nation’s Capital. I won’t be home until 10, probably, at which time the divine miss m will let me know just how displeased she’s been with only the cup to sustain her all that time.

Friday morning is the Mother’s Day program at little she-who-is’s preschool. The invitation said, “The children will sing and we will have a special snack.” What more does one need?

And yes, of course I will cry.

Then miss m and I leave right from there to Small City Over the Mountains where a few members of my clergy cohort group will present at a regional conference for the denomination. After the presentation I turn right back around and drive home.

After some fun with the family over the weekend, I will leave Mother’s Day evening for several days with the whole cohort group. This is the group of graduates of Crusty-ol’ Theological Seminary who represent diverse ends of the theological spectrum and who get together to hash things out. We even have a grant for this purpose!

Before the group meets I’ll see some other friends. I’ll spend Sunday night with Professor/Mentor, who finally e-mailed me back after untold months of irritating silence. On the upside, she now has tenure. Then Monday I am especially excited to rendezvous with several RevGals!: Songbird, Cheesehead, St. Cass, and reverend mommy, all of whom are attending Mondo Preaching Conference, aka Festival of Homies. I. Can’t. Wait.

Well, at least you didn’t have a busy day or anything…

    Inside joke ahead…

[Anyway, last night at the end of (the evening) I said, “he put a lot of work into tonight with the girls… [as if talking to children] so what do you say?”

The mother-in-law singsonged, “Thank you, R.”]

    There’s also this one…

Eve and Her Sisters by Yona McDonough, but if I remember correctly (I don’t want to actually go find it on the shelf), it’s the Hebrew Bible women.. you should write it!

    Enjoy your travels…

Mamala, R did a great job as always, but I would *still* leave him for Stephen Colbert.

Whoever Stephen Colbert is (he’s probably big and famous and I’m showing my cluelessness), I bet he doesn’t cook like R does.

I can’t believe you are going to the Mondo Preaching Gig. This is the only year I am NOT going. Shoot. I am going to Montreat for the Hope of the Church thing. Any chance you are headed there? I am bringing the whole family, which should be… interesting(and wonderful and complicated and exhausting all at the same time). I would love to see you and all your cohorts. I miss you reverendmother!

Jealous I am at your meet up! Cracking up at your love of Stephen Colbert. Hope you have a ton of fun!

Somehow I cannot picture Stephen Colbert changing a poopy diaper. Besides, he looks very high-maintenance. And R has lovely eyes. Why mess wuth success? Of course, I have a thing for Alan Rickman, so who am I to talk? (this of course shows we’re different generations…)

I am also jealous about the meet-up. Give big hugs to all the other RevGals from me, if you have the energy after all the stuff that precedes the festival. I am also jealous about the festival. One of these days…

I emailed you about the icon thing - let me know what you think.

    Mibi! Disparaging Stephen Colbert?

    You’re On Notice.

But seriously, Stephen Colbert the character would not change a poopy diaper. But Stephen Colbert the actor/comedian seems to be very grounded and a family man, in interviews and such. </rabid fan>

I will agree that R is a gem though.

Should I mention that although I do not know Stephen Colbert we grew up in the same town and went to the same school?
