on the far side of the lake
a carousel churns its white horses,
a train cuts a red gash in the field,
a rainbow tube slide spits out toddlers;
but on the banks she chose,
brown, green scrapes the sky,
white shoes wallow in the muck,
and the hem of an orange sherbet dress
melts into the water.

    Hm, that’s interesting! I mean, I like it as a snapshot in time, but it’s not one of my favorites. It’s funny how subjective taste is. Makes me feel better when I get rejections in the mail… “But SpookyRach likes me! Nyah nyah!”

    I can picture it. Of course, I think I’ve been there, but no matter. Your words paint the picture all on their own.
