Someone submitted my name to the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee of First Presbyterian Church in New York City.

The last time I got an inquiry from a search committee, I knew who had put my name in. This time I have no clue.

I feel bemusedly paranoid about that.

And tempted… but only slightly.

The long-term goal is to downshift, you see. Which wouldn’t be difficult to do, given where I am now. Pretty much the only place that would not be a step in that direction would be… well, New York.

    Okay, it was me.

    my bad.

(not really me, but play along)

((not really sure how you would acheive playing along to this, but blah blah blah))

Does this mean its ok to put yer name in the hat the next time First By-God Baptist Church of Podunk, Texas needs a new preacher? We wouldn’t have to mention that yer a girl - not right off, anyways.

  5. 5 reverendmother

Well I *do* have short hair………

And Podunk certainly would be a downshift.

    You’re just so impressive!

That wouldn’t be the one in Brooklyn, right?

    Never say never…

    Keith–no, it’s in the Village.

I think its Bugtussle, Texas that has the opening …

NY sounds great :) at least from here!

  12. 12 Matthew

I’d be more than happy to put your name in for an Austin church. :-P

There are worse places to work than the Village…

Wow. That’s sure not downshifting. Can’t blame you for being tempted. Can’t believe it’s only slightly. If you ever want to come to the Rust Belt, just let me know. Life is leisurely here…

Okay, I’m going to take credit for this one. You *know* how much I love NYC!

  16. 16 Sue

Well, it wasn’t me, but I can see why someone would consider you a good choice.

    New York?? The Village?? AWESOME!!!!

Of course, not so much if you’re looking to downshift.

Can I just say that I’m jealous? And if I were Presbyterian and hadn’t just started my first call less than a month ago, I’d totally have someone put my name in?

And I agree with Sue. Even in only “knowing” you through what I’ve read here on your blog, I can tell whoever considered you made a good choice.

It definitely wasn’t me, but I know several folks who would rather it be you than them.
