This weekend is our twelfth wedding anniversary (zoinks!! how???), and we are headed to Peaceful Beach in a couple of hours. Thanks to Free to Be who will watch the girls this afternoon, and to Mamala, who will take over until we return tomorrow evening.
Today’s Friday Five is a word association; the words are
whirlwind, foundation, lightning, den, prey (from Job 38)
So, a twelve-line poem, dedicated to R.
no biblical whirlwind,
nor Shakespearean either,
no lightning crack to the temple,
crumbling the foundations;
I don’t feel the earth move
except as we move on it together.
yet familiarity will stalk us as prey,
the den no safe place for us,
or too safe; and so, today
as the woods burst in brilliant flame,
we flee for our lives, toward the water
and waves, to find where it all began.

» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

I remember when you got married. We really did not know one another very well yet. We just sort of existed in the same church space together. That changed with the junior high youth, didn’t it!!! Congratulations. This poem is lovely– breathtaking. So, I can’t get you to Dallas, huh? It was actually not me but it certainly got my brain working…
Congratulations! That was a really great day. You really have a wonderful partner. I’m lucky to have R as my brother-in-law.
All the best to both of you on your anniversary. Enjoy your weekend!
