• The divine miss m is completely back to normal health-wise. So we’re back to only dealing with the impending molars.
  • Little she-who-is had a sleepover with MaDear. They went to see Charlotte’s Web. They both really enjoyed it, although she kept asking me why the farmer wanted to take the pig to the smokehouse. Time to explain bacon and ham.
  • After making a point of having my wireless mike’s battery changed before second service, I then forgot to turn it on.
  • I visited three people in the hospital yesterday. Two people recovering from surgery, and one church member’s father who had a massive heart attack. I visited with the first two, then made my way to the CCU to find a dark, empty room, and a nurse who glanced at my badge and said carefully, “He’s not here anymore.”
  • So I will be doing a funeral after the holidays.
  • Am I especially qualified to minister to a woman who lost her father suddenly and at a young age? Yes I am.
  • Senior pastor and I met regarding the shift in job responsibilities. We revised the preaching schedule and she said, “Why don’t you preach on Easter?” I was flummoxed. She said, “If we’re truly going to share the preaching let’s make it clear theologically what we’re doing.” Her words said yes but her voice said, “I *want* to be OK with this, but I’m not quite sure.” I’m willing to see how it unfolds and not concern myself with Easter. That’s a huge step for a head of staff. But, I do have two dates a month and a rough plan for taking certain responsibilities off my plate, so I’m excited.
  • I saw the most amazing sunrise yesterday morning; it almost defies description, but I’m going to try, maybe tomorrow.

Yes, and did she ask you also why Charlotte died? Julia said [as Charlotte] “I’m lanquishing.” Explain that to a 3 year old…

and a mighty busy Sunday you had.

You get to preach Easter??? SOOOOOOO cool!!!!

Would a hug around bullet point 6 be at all useful?

Hope that there isn’t too much sadness awoken as you minister to that girl (I’ve been there too).

And 3 cheers re Easter; it IS a huge thing for your “boss” to give up,- FabVicar managed it this year, but then, he also gave away the Midnight Mass to me, which was so unutterably generous and mature that it still leaves me awestruck.

Update: miss m has another ear infection.

    Two, in fact.

For the record, “completely back to normal” lasted about four days.

    Eep. Sorry.

I’m just curious about one thing. You said you will do a funeral after the holidays. Why will they wait that long?

  9. 9 reverendmother

Several reasons. I think the idea of doing a funeral right now so close to Christmas feels like a greater stressor for the family than the benefit of having “closure” would be. I think the brother cannot get here until then for some reason. Those are the main things.

Also, they had a small visitation last night, so there has been some of that ritual goodbye stuff this week.

On wireless lapel-mike batteries: I turned mine, (I thought) ON prior to giving the benediction and, (I thought), OFF prior to going out to the patio to shake hands and chat with 300 or so people. Turns out, I did just the opposite. . .

It sounds like these last weeks of the year will be filled with challenge and change…blessings all around…as you minister to the family, as you parter with Sr. Pastor into a new relationship of sorts, and as to cradle Ms. M through holiday sickies…(hugs)

Just don’t turn that wireless mike on prior to a potty break. We had a young actor in Peter Pan who forgot his was on. Someone asked where he was and he called out “I’m in the bathroom” All of the audience could hear and had quite a laugh.

Sorry about the ears. You might try looking up using sorbitol as a prophylaxis on google.

She must have a round angelic face. Those are the babies that get the most infections because the Eustcian Tube in a straight shot from the posterior pharynx to behind the eardrum. :)

hey! sent you an email! let me know if it never arrives due to the fact that your email hates my email (which is decidedly unchristian of both, I think)

sorry about the earballs. must be the cherub face.

oh man…I put 10 hours in today..I can do it again..do I need to plan for more time in the RM household due to the Divine’s condition in the next few days?

  18. 18 will smama

I was going to comment that I was glad health had finally come to your family… now I will revise and say I wish for health to come to your family.

The church is so blessed to have you.
