- I am back with the kidlets. The travel was better than that of a week ago, even with only one parental unit. Grandmothers helped on each end of the trip.
- Good surprise: No staff meeting tomorrow.
- Bad surprise: Picked up a voice mail tonight that the divine miss m’s daycare is closed tomorrow because it’s a federal holiday, and when the gummint’s closed, she’s closed.
- If I’d known the good and bad surprise, I might’ve just stayed in Midwestern Capital with R another day.
- I don’t make resolutions, but sometimes I set intentions. Some of my intentions for 2007 are:
–to start knitting again, including making what is now a vest into a sweater for miss m (too late for little she)
–to seek out beautiful things beyond my everyday life–museums, theater, dance, etc.
–to continue writing with the intention of submitting more poetry for publication as well as a few short pieces; to continue working on the Dad piece
–to decide whether I will take a sabbatical in 2008 and if yes, to apply for the Lilly money (this decision is bigger than just the sabbatical–yes means I’m at Suburban Pres through 2009 at least) - Apparently the newblog is almost done.
And finally, my traditional New Year’s blessing:
And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year,
“Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
He replied, “Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than a light and safer than the known way.”

» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

I love, love that quote. I used to have it prominently displayed on my desk.
Many blessings as you work toward your intentions. Happy New Year, RM!
Well, I do look forward to seeing your new place/blog - and thank you for sharing the last bit from Pilgrim’s Progress. Happy New Year
What a great New Year’s blessing! Thanks!
I like the idea of intentions. You have some good ones. Can’t wait to see the new blog!
I will be so utterly jealous of you if you get Lilly money! (non-parish folks aren’t eligible, so it won’t be the “why you and not me” jealous, but just the “why not meeeeeeeee” jealous!.)
Very good intentions.
And it just might be that a day at home to regroup would be the best thing for all involved.

Apply, Apply, Apply!

Happy, happy birthday!
Wow, that sabbatical decision sounds distinctly win-win. I pray that the right path will open before you.
Funny, i have that quote too, but found it attributed to someone else. I’m sure you’re right, though… Durn internet.
I had a birthday as well; on December 31st. Happy (belated) Birthday. Nice blessing, and thank you.
Happy Birthday, rm!
Belated birthday hugs and blessings…Hope this is a good year all round…
(oh, and Juniper, because George VI used that quote in a New Year broadcast to the nation back in the day, he sometimes gets the credit for it. Maybe that’s where your source got boggled)
Happy Birthdays! This one and all the rest!
Glad your folks are reunited.
