Songbird poses this delicious question: List four ways you like to relax or give yourself a break. Then name a fifth, something you’ve never been able to do, a self-care dream.
1. Sing. I’m told that I sang to myself pretty much constantly as a child—not hard to believe, since little she-who-is does the same thing. When I’m feeling stressed out and tight in the chest, I realize I haven’t been singing much.
2. Write. Blogs, poems, journal entries, random stream of consciousness stuff that is not intended to see the light of day, even sermons—I get very testy if it’s gone too long without doing something.
3. Travel. R and I love to get away, even for a night—have a good meal, walk around unfamiliar streets. A day downtown will do in a pinch.
4. Pedicures. They feel good at the time, and you have the pretty toes to enjoy for weeks afterward.
5. This relates to #4, but I would love to go with the CGs to a real full-service spa.

» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

Writing does feel relaxing, as long as I don’t have a deadline
I’ve never had a pedicure- and they keep being mentioned- maybe I’ll have to book one up!
Well played.
Good list. For the first time in almost 2 years, TDH and I are doing a version of #3. Out to dinner in cute downtown while The Boy sleeps over at my parents’.
Thanks for encouraging both in this post and others about how important that is.
I’ve never had a professional pedicure. It must be quite different than when done by a 5 year old who loves purple nail polish.
I think I should experience the real thing at least once in my life…and once I’ve discover the magic, I’ll probably wanna do it again & again.
Interesting that things we do anyway can also be sources of renewal (writing, singing) and not just trips to foreign lands or other fantastical possibilities.
Soooooo…. good. I love listening to a singer who loves to sing. I wish that were me sometimes, but to each of us be given different gifts. And the singing is not mine. Bless you.
Great list. I like to write too. How did that not make my list?
I like to write too! That’s why blogging is so fun. I can share my thoughts without boring anyone.
Camelback Mountain in Scottsdale or The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Totally CG-worthy places. Maybe someday…!
Sing! How could I have forgotten that? I’m only moderately good (fit for a choir, but not for solos) but I love to sing and I miss it when I don’t get to do it much. The first thing I look at in our Sunday bulletins is the hymns. Well-played, RM!
