Published by reverendmother 3 years, 6 months agoDo you have ANY idea how tempting it was to scoop up an armload of books at Kramerbooks this evening after dinner?
Do you? Do you?
Yes. You do.

» A note to readers who are looking at the new blog: you’ll notice some “greatest hits” from reverendmother there, especially as I ramp up my writing in that space. Sorry for the déjà vu!

I almost bought three books of poetry: “The Making of a Poem: A Norton Anthology” (which describes the different poetic forms and provides examples of each), Mary Karr’s “Sinners Welcome,” and Ted Kooser’s helpfully written but cutesy-titled “Poetry Home Repair Manual.” I resisted, but they’re on the Amazon wish list.
Oooo, I Love Kramer Books. Whenever I am in DC, I make it a point to stay near/on Dupont circle just so I can go there late at night. It is such a treat to be able to get lost in the books at an hour that I would normally be asleep.
I love bookstores in the USA - you are so blessed! And yes I am a tad jealous too
Tell me about this Karamer books. I’m going to be in DuPont Circle in 2 weeks!
Great books and yummy desserts! I love Kramers!
And…good writing class this morning. Thank you.
PPB: Kramerbooks. Open late, great browsing and people-watching, cozy cafe in the back with live music on weekends. I can’t tell whether it’s a tourist trap, but I don’t care.
Kelley: I had a ball. Don’t feel like I did much.
I don’t think Kramer books is a tourist trap. I only know about it because my best friend lives in DC and used to live right up the road from Kramer books. I’ve been going there whenever I visit for the past 18 years…probably about 25 trips over the years.
The only poetry book I own is Perrine’s SOUND AND SENSE. Some day when I can read more than a few short stories a month…
Perrine?
Perrine?
Sound and Sense??
You mean the book that Mr. Keating reads from and tells his students to RIP THE CHAPTER OUT of in Dead Poets Society?
Yeah, I have that one too.
