Even though my kind hosts in the ‘Ham let me sleep as late as I wished this weekend, I’m feeling tired. Probably because I took a Bonine today, as I usually do when traveling by air. Tonight C asked why I didn’t enjoy spinning around in a circle. I hope she never experiences the reason first-hand—the family stomach.

Seminary Galpal is now the Rev. Seminary Galpal. Blessed be. It was SO nice to be there for that. There were four graduates of Crusty ol’ Theological Seminary in the service, plus Professor/Mentor, who preached. SG and I served communion together and it was a nice bookend to the experience of serving communion with ChaplainMom at my own ordination. And the people I met from her new church are just lovely, salt-of-the-earth folk.

I picked up a nice idea at the ordination—during the laying on of hands the person leading the prayer paused and allowed anyone else to offer a short spoken prayer for SG. Then she closed the prayer. Nice.

Oh my goodness, what a pretty little city. Makes me long to move away from Suburban Sheol, and find a community with greenspaces and walking trails and little shops and so forth. Though every place has its issues, I guess. I do like the melting pot that is our neck of the woods.

On two out of the four legs of my trip, the airplane lavatories weren’t working. Is this some nasty cost-cutting measure on the part of U.S. Airways?

And is it just my imagination, or did the flight from Southern Financial Capital to here have a lot more people waiting in line way before boarding even began than any of the other legs of the trip? Yes, this is a rather type-A region of the country, why do you ask?

I lived life on the edge by buying a 3.3 ounce tube of lotion at the Body Shop in the Southern Financial Capital airport on Saturday, knowing it would be examined in my quart Ziplock today in the ‘Ham. Went unnoticed.

I finished reading Julia Glass’s Three Junes which was a beautifully written novel though I occasionally found the story to be flat. I was glad I read it though. I also made it through quite a bit of Krista Tippett’s Speaking of Faith.

The girls seemed happy to see me. I brought little she-who-is a handheld fan with light-up LEDs, and the divine miss m received a toy airplane with noises and lights and a pull string that makes it go.

Special thanks to Mamala and Mr. RM for helping make this trip possible.

Welcome home! Congratulations to Rev. Seminary Galpal. Shared experiences such as these are eternal!

    What is YOUR ordination date?

Congrats on the published article in big city newspaper! Really nice picture too!

Writing class went well. Hope to fill you in.
The writing assignments seem to have a life of their own and are beginning to move and breathe and surprise us!

I bow down before thee…you know I love the girls! and R is just the best dad, but man, if I had to get them ready to go before I could go every day, I just don’t know…there’s, indeed, a reason god gives us children when we’re young. Give R an extra hug (I know you will, and probably already have) as while I was dressing myself, the divine decided to toss her bowl of Cheerios from her high chair onto the floor and SWI (she-who-is) stated defiantly “I don’t want to go to preschool” (who wants to go anywhere on a Monday morning, when we’ve been robbed of a weekend hour? darn you, daylight savings time!). He was calm and loving throughout it all…you chose well, my dear!

Sounds like a great time. “Suburban Sheol” made me snort my coke.

Well Mamala, lest you forget, there is that matter of the RM and Mr. trip to Scotland… you *will* have to get them out of the house each morning! ;-) Thankfully you have plenty of time to get mentally prepared for that. Hee hee.

But yes, I have an amazing spouse.

Sounds like a good trip. I am always a little dumbfounded by the apparent hordes of people who just can’t wait to go sit on the airplane. Like it’s going to be more comfortable if you’re sitting in it before your neighbor is in his/hers? And I’m calling Homeland Security on your extra 0.3 ounces. And I agree completely about Three Junes.
