Good things come in threes. Here are some notable trios; see if you can find my favorite:

  • Plácido Domingo, José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti – the tenors
  • Manny, Moe and Jack – the pep boys
  • Harry, Ron, and Hermione – wizarding trifecta
  • peanut butter, pickle, and mayonnaise – R’s favorite sandwich abomination
  • Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – old-school trinity
  • Speaker, Word, and Breath – the Presbyterian’s rockin’ new alternative
  • A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi – the real Star Wars trilogy
  • Jamoca/Almond/Fudge – ice cream sensation
  • little she-who-is, the divine miss m, and bonus baby – the reverendchildren

Congratulations and welcome to the world of five/being outnumbered/minivan for life crowd! Baby 3 will be most blessed to have such fine sisters and parents.

    Hope you feel wonderful.

  2. 2 Ann

Congratulations from a bonus baby (afterthought? accident? perimenopausal shock?) who was born 22 years after my elder brother. You may get that boy yet!

  3. 3 Linda (FM)

You left a comment somewhere recently that had me wondering. Congratulations!

  4. 4 Mindy

  5. 5 Anna Straight

    I know! I know!
    The last one!
    Three children! Wow!
It really is going overboard to show your support for trinitarian theology, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

It is one very, very lucky baby- not only in its parentage but in its siblings as well-

  6. 6 Preacher Mom

    What wonderful news!!

From another bonus (although I think it was more of an oops!) baby!

  7. 7 Lorna

  11. 11 anne

cool! i always thought i wanted 4 kids until i had 3. then i got the baby-making machine fixed because i knew 3 was the right number for us. (there were many years when i was always behind on everything as i tried to keep up w/ 3 kids!

  12. 12 reverendmother

anne is a real-life friend, so this seems like a good time to chime in—I have NOT announced at church, but will this Sunday. So, those of you whom I know in both spheres, mum’s the word for a little longer. I just couldn’t stand keeping it a secret here any more.

  13. 13 Judy Adler

Wow, congrats to you, R, C and M!!

And here’s to an easy pregnancy.

  14. 14 rivkah

Oh, Congrats!! How exciting. I would love to knit you a turtle!
My Poppy (grandfather) used to eat PB, lettuce and mayo (actually, I think it was Miracle Whip) sandwiches.

  15. 15 Painting Pastor

    FANTASTIC!!!!!

  16. 16 Kathryn

Oh wow! That is so wonderful….Good things definitely do come in 3s, and though I would have gone on to 4 had there been any chance of affording to feed them all, 3 has worked quite beautifully in the GoodinParts household.
Hope you’re feeling well, and all is going swimmingly.
Hugs and blessings on ALL of you xxx

  17. 17 Keith

    Hooray!

so this explains your absence at certain meetings? ;-)

  23. 23 spookyrach

Yeah, yeah, yeah, another baby. Now on to the real discussion. You are sooo right about the Star Wars movies. Those new ones are an absolute abomination…!

    (Ha ha! Congratulations!!!!)

  24. 24 Free to Be

I must write my congratulations to add to this list. As a grandmother of three, I can say good things did come in threes — but number four is on the way. Think about it!

Also consider my dad’s favorite: peanut butter, raisins, and banana.

  25. 25 Clergy Novelist

Congratulations! Blessings on all of you! Telling the girls will probably be as much fun as telling the congregation.

  26. 26 sherry

    Yes!! I had a suspicion.

BB is the name of my son’s cat….it stands for Billy Bob or Bad Boy depending on what is happening…..maybe that is an omen. (Not that I am suggesting the name Billy Bob….just wishing for a boy…..boys and their mothers are something verrrrryyyy special.)

  27. 27 Manya

    Congratulations!
I am thrilled for you, R, and the girls.

  28. 28 Heather

congrats! and also, I hadn’t heard the rockin’ new presbyterian version — I love it.

  29. 29 What Now?

Yay for the bonus baby! How exciting.

  30. 30 towanda

I was thinking it was “Speaker Word Breath” (which is pretty cool) until I got to the end of the list. Wow, congratulations! We were three…er, we still are, I should say. It’s a good number!

  31. 31 zorra

    WHAT? Congratulations!

  32. 32 Cathy

Wheeeeee!!!! Three is a very good number!
    Congratulations!

  33. 33 NotShyChiRev

    Showers of blessings!
    How wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

  34. 34 Matthew

Good things do come in three’s. Don’t forget these gems.

    1) Larry, Curly, and Moe
    2) Larry, Daryl, and Daryl
    3) Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Jeff Foxworthy
    4) Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parrish all won THREE NBA Championships in the in the 80’s
    5) Larry the Lobster, Spongebob, and Squidward Tentacles
    6) Larry Wachowski, Larry Fishburne, and Larry the Oracle ;-) from the Matrix TRILOGY
    7) Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards, Leisure Suit Larry Goes Looking for Love (In Several Wrong Places), and Leisure Suit Larry Passionate Patti in Pursuit of the Pulsating Pectorals 8) Larry Olivier who mastered the trifecta of Hamlet, Macbeth, and Henry V

If it’s a boy, you have to name it Larry. ;-)

  35. 35 Songbird

Phew, now we can talk about it!

  36. 36 Sarah

To life, RM and R and revchildren - to life!

  37. 37 Matt Rhodes

I was going to add Moe, Larry, and Curly, but Matthew beat me to it. However, you can only use them unless you throw in Shemp and Curly Joe, in which case it blows your entire theory:-)

And congratulations to you on the great news! You and your family have my prayers for a good pregnancy, an easy delivery, and a great new life together!

  38. 38 reverendmother

Matthew, clearly I should have consulted you before writing this post!

  39. 39 Diane

Congratulations! That is so amazing!!! I love surprises.

  40. 40 sally

    speaker word and breath- cool!

  41. 41 mibi52

Lovely news! I like the Presby trinity. I know we’ve got some alternative language like that in Episco-world, but for the life of me I cannot remember it. The PBPM sounds revolting, but I like PB in chicken satay sauce, with is an equally odd mixture, so I can’t point fingers at R over that.

Jamoca Almond Fudge. I moan at the thought. Sounds like perfect preggo food - much better than the peanut butter concoction!

  42. 42 mompriest

    congratulations. so wonderful.

  43. 43 revdrmom

    Congratulations!

  44. 44 Susie

YAY!!! Congratulations to all of you!!
