In honor of my experiment:

1. Have you ever successfully quit a bad habit, or gotten a good habit established? Tell us about how you did it.
I have gotten on regular exercise kicks in the past—while pregnant with C, and several years ago in anticipation of a trip to Colorado and a goal to climb something tall and majestic. It was all the simple stuff: schedule a regular time to work out, have my exercise clothes at the ready so I don’t fumble around for equipment and lose motivation, workout with a friend (R), etc.

I go in and out of regular exercise and I’m trying to cultivate the habit of self-acceptance about that!

2. “If only there were a 12-step program for _________________!”
These days? Ben and Jerry’s Pistachio Pistachio Ice Cream.

3. Share one of your healthy “obsessions” with us.
Writing is a not-quite-obsession that helps me sort out my internal life, exercises my brain, and occasionally, enlightens or entertains others.

4. Share the habit of a spouse, friend or loved one that drives you C-R-A-Z-Y.
Hmm, how to choose… ;-) Well, his habit is my habit too—letting the trash can get ridiculously full and stinky before taking it out.

5. “I’d love to get into the habit of ___________________.”
Prenatal yoga. I loved it while pregnant with C, and I even have a DVD! I am puzzled as to when would be the best time to do this.

Bonus: What is one small action you might take immediately to make #5 a reality?
Probably two things—just do it one day, to remind myself how good it feels, and then actually schedule it on my calendar, something realistic like two days a week the first week.

Bonus 2: Try it, and let us know how it goes in a future post!

Prenatal yoga sounds totally lovely. Everything about it sounds lovely. Said by someone many years past such a prospect.

prenatal yoga. absolutely! With both my pregnancies. And for me, first thing in the morning, early. for others, at night. But it’s best before a meal not after…ergo first thing in the morning. but then I didn’t have much morning sickness…

best wishes for great health over the next few months!

I love the yoga idea. I took a class a long time ago. (a really really long time ago) and I think it is a good discipline.

    Thanks for playing!

Yoga is great- but I too am way past pre-natal yoga!… as for the trash can- does anyone empty trash until they absolutely have to???

I did the prenatal yoga thing on and off with L, too. Coming from someone who has a terrible time doing anything routinely, I think that a couple times a week to start is a good idea and you can increase it as you have time/energy, etc. Definitly let us know how it goes!

Yoga is the best. It works out your entire being, inside and out. I would not have survived peri-menopause without it.

Hey, this turned out to be quite the gift to me today. So thanks for a difficult, challenging and changing F5!
