…and I’m getting one! Yippee!
We leave tomorrow morning, and I’m not bringing my laptop. If I post this week, it will be through R’s laptop, and sporadically. I have to actually go and buy a paper journal since I normally write on the computer. But I’m ready for some time away from my little titanium-encased friend.
I also feel so ready for some time from the church. I’m getting irritated by stuff that I know is normally just quirks of humanity, not major annoyances. So, vacationing I go.
We’ll fly to Flat and Hot tomorrow, spend the night with my grandmother, then travel to Hip and Hilly to see my brothers and college friends for two days. Then it’s on to Presby-retreat on the River, and back to Flat and Hot on Sunday to see more family, and TX ClergyPal on Monday before we return home.
We are going to eat—Tex-Mex, and BBQ The Way It Was Meant To Be, slow-smoked brisket and ribs with the sauce on the side. I don’t know whether we’ll get around to The Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas or not, which is at the restaurant on the river, in the town with the German spelling and weird pronunciation. One long weekend several years back I ate there twice, CFS both times. It’s not really on the way to anything though.
Cheers, and see you on the other side.

» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

happy trails to you until we meet again.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
Have a fantabulous time!
Have a great time!
Now I might have to head west soon. I was OK here until you mentioned the Best CFS in Texas (thus, by definition, the best in the world). Road trip!
Safe travels, my sweet daughter #1 and her precious cargo…
You deserve a vacation.
Enjoy the brisket.
Enjoy it!!
You must be going to MO Ranch. Have a wonderful time and go visit a winery while you’re in the Hill Country! There’s also quite a few farms growing lavender in that area and it’s in bloom now, so breathe it all in.
Sounds like a well-deserved and much-needed time of rest and rejuvenation for you. Enjoy! (And having traveled through Texas a few times, I can say that I agree with your comments about the food out there!)
Mmm, hill country. Mmm, brisket. Enjoy!!!
Oh, Texas barbeque! My mouth is watering! Think of me eating back cafeteria food at Children’s and struggling thru CPE while you are enjoying the delights of Texas cuisine.
Traveling mercies…
Can’t wait to see y’all!
Hugs!
Oh, I love that part of Texas. I’m from the desert part - its pretty too but no rivers.
