aside: a little dream
Published by reverendmother 1 year, 2 months agoI have a dream, not a big dream, but a little dream, that I will someday be able to visit the bathroom without a child wailing her accompaniment outside the door.

» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

All in good time, my pretty.
Aw Grace, you just brought tears to my eyes. May I e-mail you every time I get irritated and impatient with the littleness of my children?
Just don’t get a cat. They never outgrow it.
I demanded that my family tell me where the light is that goes on to let them know I’m in the bathroom so that they can come stand outside the door and talk to me. They have not been forthcoming.
I finally asked my 11 year-old why? why? why? And he said, because I know you’ll answer me no matter what.
you might have to wait a little …. but the time will come
and actually all too fast when you look back.
hang in there
Absolutely, RM. Email me anytime. You’ve got the address!
To add to Songbird.s advice: don’t get a lab either.
Not marrying into my MiL’s family helps too, i’d imagine - if she has started a monologue, she’ll follow her audience remorselessly wherever they go…But yes, those small escorts to the loo are actually one of my quintessential memories of mothering tinies. One of the bathrooms at our old house had a hand sized gap at the bottom of the door, so these little hands used to come under the door…and there were days when I felt so besieged it was a miracle I didn’t stamp on them!
It passes. Too soon.
