• We saw Ocean’s Thirteen last night. Very enjoyable. Of course I am one of the minority who liked Ocean’s Twelve. My standards are low, I guess. Plus Albert Finney looks like my dad so I love anything he does.

It was good to have the guys back in Vegas for this one. Many reviewers were quick to point out the lack of romantic relationship for Brad Pitt or The Clooney. They say this like it’s a bad thing. C’mon, people. Guys will see it because it’s a heist/buddy movie, and gals don’t need the chicks getting in the way of teh eye candy, all right?

  • MaDear spent the night last night and helped with the girls today while R and I worked on some stuff. R is power-washing the deck and painting the rails. Translation: It’s 82 Degrees, I’ll Do Anything To Avoid Working on Financial Stuff. I went for about an hour to the Small Church Religious Arts Festival at Local Episcopal Seminary and got some interesting ideas. I want to get certified as a Master Biblical Storyteller. That just sounds cool, doesn’t it? Cool and not very lucrative.
  • Then I worked on the Harry Potter series. Here are the texts and titles:
July 1: “Post Comes on Sundays, Too”
    Jeremiah 1:1-10

July 8: “Love Leaves Its Own Mark”
    II Corinthians 5:14-21
    John 15:12-17

July 15: “Prayer and Other Defenses Against the Dark Arts”
    Isaiah 53:1-6
    Romans 7:14-25

We actually had someone call the church, “very interested” in the series. I asked our office manager whether they sounded like they were lighting torches in the background. She said no. We are handing out postcards for church members to send to their favorite Griffindors, Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs. Slytherins not allowed. Or is that exclusivist of us?

  • Tonight the girls are sleeping over at MaDear’s place. I am sitting here feeling like it’s 6:00 and dinner should be happening soon, then realizing that R and I can have dinner whenever we want. Wacky.

ooh, no Slytherins, eh? that’s awesome.

I wish I was doing a Harry Potter series. Seriously. It sounds cool, and since I’m in the middle of both the re-read and the re-watch, I’m finding all kinds of cool things I could preach on, clips I could show, etc….

    Have fun!!

My mother-in-law is a professional storyteller, among lots of other things… she is working on classes this summer at a school somewhere in Tennessee. It can be done!

Sounds like a great series. We’re headed to Scotland next weekend and hope to run into JK.

You’d be a great “professional” story teller. In fact, you already are.

PS: In every church I’ve been in (which, granted, is only 4), there’s been a master biblical storyteller.
They are very handy and often exceedingly cool people. You should totally do that. :-)

For those of us who will not be able to hear these sermons will there be some place that we can at least read them.

I must have been channelling your evening out with R and the movie…I dreamt the other night that I had dinner with The Clooney. The whole time I was sitting there opposite him, I just kept thinking, “boy, is RM going to be mad at me for this opportunity!” ;-)

So, if you got the certificate, would we have to start calling you Master Reverendmother?
