(That’s half birthday)
The divine miss m is 18 months old today.
You are our trickster child, our joker, our adventurer who stands on wastebaskets beneath open second-story windows, who has already been to the ER, who makes messes and blows kisses. You were the one who kept me guessing in the last weeks of pregnancy, with your convincing warm-up contractions. Now I feel them, now I don’t, day after day, your own version of peekaboo.
I still remember finding out you were a girl; I even wrote about it, the gasp of surprise when the ultrasound technician nodded, “Yep, that’s a girl.”
I had always thought there would be a boy and a girl. A set. One of each. Two children. It was the plan, even though I knew the plan was out of my hands.
This Tuesday we will confirm that the one I am calling “Bonus Baby” is indeed a boy; we will confirm that my writing a letter “for the son I will not have” was premature. If it is a boy, that boy will have been part of the plan, just with different timing than I thought.
You are the one we were not expecting. You are the one we could not have even dreamed of.
Is is you who are our Bonus.

Beautiful.
Happy half b-day Miss M.
This was wonderful RM.
Are you having half a cake? (We do this. Any excuse for any part of a cake.)
I’m happy for bonus babe and for you. Our bonus is a treasure. Apparently she’s become more useful too. (She’s hanging shower doors in MS.)
Congratulations!!
I hope she has a wonderful half birthday with you, her father and her sister.
she is beautiful.
Are you going to be around when Amy and I come for the youngclergywomen conference?
if so, there should be playing.
today 7 “birthday babes” (women who celebrate birthdays—and life—together) celebrated the 60th birthday of one of our members (ranging in age from 55 to 68).
we each brought ~10 photos of ourselves through the ages and shared stories of our lives ’til now.
hearing about m’s birthday gave me permission to recommend that this is a wonderful way to get to know folks that you already know on a much more intimate level. we ate lunch and shared stories for 4 hours. what joy i take in my women friends! and if you haven’t read snow flower and the secret fan, i can recommend it as a book that offers new insight into the power of women as friends!
how cool.
happy half birthday miss M!
The thing I love the most about the Divine Miss M is that she will trick you and fool you and keep you running and guessing and giggle the whole time, but then when you least expect it (in the middle of her “mayhem”) she’ll lay her head down on your shoulder and for the next most perfect few seconds, she’s all love and all yours…many more BRHAs my sweet #4 grandchild (and did I ever tell you that 4’s my lucky number?)
I love this! Beautiful. Sweet surprises!
congrats on this third gem of a baby! our 3rd is now 10 months and while being “outnumbered” as a parent is a heck of a lot of work, I couldn’t be more thrilled with three.
I love this. And you
What a cutie!
Yay! Happy Half-Birthday! She’s going to be a great older sister!
I’ve been playing catch-up here this evening. I really like this place. The child is simply beautiful!
