Back from first (annual?) all-church retreat, which judging from the fistful of evaluations I ended up with was a resounding success.

Excellent weather (not that we controlled that). Well organized. Nice balance of activity and downtime. The main suggestions were minor things to improve, like having a place the early bird could make make coffee before breakfast at 8. Last night’s fire alarm, which went off not once, not twice, but three times before 8 a.m., was a lowlight. Again, not our fault. People liked the facility in spite of the wake-up calls and the powdered eggs, potatoes, and cake frosting.

This whole thing was pretty much my idea. So it is nice to have people affirm that yes, this was wonderful and needed in our church. The committee took the idea and ran with it, working its collective tail off, yet seemed to have fun too.

We had a Talent Share last night and I read some of my more lighthearted poems. It was fun to share that part of myself with them, though reading them aloud highlighted some need for revision!

This week is going to be nutty. Program year starting, several meetings, including one with personnel, several writing deadlines, and other various and sundry I won’t get into in the post-retreat glow.

This phrase is a testament that you are wonderful pastor: “The committee took the idea and ran with it.” Blessings in your nutty week. I hope you have retreated enough that there will be some peace.

I’m exhausted, but had a really, reallly good time. I think your leadership showed and the success that followed was proof of that.

I really enjoyed seeing so many in the church come to you and ask for direction and you gave it so confidently and assuredly. They were sent on their way with sound direction. Man, I wish I had such leadership at my job!

It’s so fulfilling to see my children being adults! and wise ones at that!!

Wonderful weekend! Beautiful weather and beautiful location. All five members of our family were happy (children, youth & adults) and enjoyed the weekend. Drama group was relevent and talented. So nice to have a drama group rather than a speaker. Retreat was very well planned. Thanks for the perfect goodbye to summer and hello to the school year transition weekend.

I loved your poetry. The poems needed no revision.
Everyone was tee-heeing. And we all enjoyed seeing your sweet girls (and BB to be)! I also really appreciated your voice and your worship leadership with the music in worship and in gathering time. You have an innate gift of music.

Our second annual retreat is in two weeks–also my idea, but unfortunately no committee to take it and run, so staff has planned it. Last year’s was a big success and we have more people going this year–yay! A lot of work, but worth it, I think. Glad yours went well.
