Fidelia’s Sisters debuts October 1. Check it out!

Had a nice visit in Keillor-ville meeting the little nephew. He is a sweetheart and we are now ready to meet BB. R & I also changed our first boy diaper together. Totally different geography there.

They are a peace-filled family, for the most part, but I also had flashbacks of how tense that time can be. First time parents have Opinions.

And even though I’m freaking about being a mom of three, I also know that I have chilled out about a great many things. My primary ideal now is the Good Enough Mother. Read here and here.

Unfortunately, both girls were sick this weekend. Mainly fevers and sore throats. They laid low and were fine with MaDear, but gah! It’s a good thing this was our last hurrah BBB, because even the Good Enough Mother feels the guilt of being away when the littles aren’t well.

In other medical news… as noted in the sidebar, my protein problem was not a problem after all. As expected and hoped. I’ll find out more at my appointment Monday morning—they might retest me to make sure everything stays cool. Unfortunately I am scheduled to see The Overcautious Midwife tomorrow; she was the only one that fit my schedule. She is the one who made me do a glucose test at like 14 weeks because she “didn’t like my weight.” Well bully on you, the sugar was fine and nobody else has said a word about my weight. So I’m bracing for lots of hand-wringing with a dollop of shame, which I will politely decline the best I can. Thankfully she does not deliver babies, and the other midwives are great. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see the Janeane Garofalo lookalike midwife this pregnancy. She delivered M and totally rocked.

Regarding Fidelia’s Sisters, the layout reminded me of Crimespot, which shows the first few lines of disparate crime-fiction-related blog entries in a central location. Not the same idea, really, but maybe there’s something here you can appropriate to make your columns easier to manage:

    NICE launch of the e-zine.

Sorry the littles were feeling puny while you were away.

Thanks Keith. I like the way FS works (things basically will rotate) but it needs a little color or graphic or something.

FS rocks, and your poem was great! Hoping the kiddos are feeling better, and the visit to the midwife isn’t too obnoxious.

Sorry that came across as critical; it’s not how I meant it. I’m exhausted and not communicating well. It’s a nice page–I just know it’s a pain trying to juggle lots of information like that, and thought of Crimespot.

Actually it didn’t seem critical at all! That was my first thought when I saw it this morning, and I like the way the Crimespot website handles that with the spots of color.

Hmm, I think I am tired too.

    Welcome back!

Yup, those boys have entirely different geography. I recently spotted these adorable little “tents” made of face-cloth material that you can place over the “equipment” during diaper changes, so that you don’t get peed on during the bare moments. Brilliant. I should have invented those.

Sue/RM - Those are called Pee-Pee Tee Pee and are a total waste of time. It just gave the boys something else to grab and try and put in their mouths - wet or dry… and they always seem to take it off juuuuusssssttttt before. The best way to handle boy geography - IMHO - 1) be quick 2) try to have everything ready to go before you start and 3) a towel underneath and a hand over everything works wonders - but sometimes those suckers are FAST!!! and you just wind up changing and giving your spouse a dirty look as they laugh..then the tables turn and all is well. The nooks and crannys are interesting as well. Its amazing where lint can collect. :)

But RM, you have been there before and while the geography is different, its still the same country.
