Published by reverendmother 11 months, 3 weeks agoAm I crazy, or would this not make an awesome place to start a really cool and creative new church development?

» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

It would be hugely exciting, indeed. A bit far for me, - but definitely exciting
I can’t stop thinking about it. Woke up at 5 a.m. straightaway (beat M by 15 minutes) with it on my mind.
Given the stories of the early church, I can’t think of anything more resonant than starting a church in a prison-turned-place-of-beauty.
Am so glad to know that Lorton is being transformed..and yes what an amazing place for an NCD….take a nap - you deserve it!
I like the idea too. why not sit with the idea and let it germinate much like you have been doing for nearly nine months? If after nine months the idea is still alive within in, it may be time for birthing and calling others to the same.
From the organization’s website:
“The prison facilities quickly grew and in 1917, the Workhouse received it most famous inmates - the suffragists.
About 170 women were arrested for their participation in marches in front of the White House on behalf of suffrage. These women were brought to Lorton where they were physically abused, forced if they refused to eat, and made to live in filthy conditions.
As news of the suffragettes’ poor treatment at the facility leaked out to the public, support for their cause grew. These women were part of the final phase of protests that lasted decades and resulted in women winning the right to vote in 1920 under the 19th Amendment. In 1982, a historical marker was placed at the Lorton Complex as a tribute to the suffragists.”
A connection to the women’s movement too?!? Metaphors on top of metaphors! Be still my heart.
