My niece, Parker Chloe, is making her long trip out the short birth canal as we speak. I would send some dilating vibes out into the universe but I really don’t want them to rebound on me. Too much other stuff to do. (38 weeks today!)

As hard as it is to believe, R and I will likely sleep better once our baby is born. R has been getting up with our teething toddler who enjoys wandering about the upstairs hallway for reasons passing understanding. Our latest approach, born out of frustration, is to give M a choice: she can either settle and be quiet in her bed, or we will put her back in her crib. After about 30 shrieking seconds in the crib, we give her a choice: would she like to go back to bed and be quiet? She often does and goes to sleep. I’m not sure how to move her towards skipping the crib part.

So R is pretty crispy-fried these days. However, I see his teething toddler and raise him an aching back, miniscule bladder capacity and a smattering of Braxton-Hicks. We’re both like something the cat drug in.

I met with a couple of people yesterday to talk about the new evangelism team that will be forming at the church. I told them I wanted to write a letter that gets put in a drawer until late January, then sent out so we can be up and running when I come back from leave in March. I shared some of my vision for the team and what I wanted the letter to say and they said, “Don’t send a letter, make a video of yourself and we’ll send it out on DVD!” I thought that was a fun idea. Your mission, should you choose to accept it…

The Clear Channel station has begun the Christmas songs. This makes me giddy in spite of myself.

I got a call a couple of weeks ago that a member of the church would like to arrange Thanksgiving dinner for our family, provided by a chef friend of his. A Thanksgiving dinner for nine will be delivered to the church next Wednesday, complete with heating instructions. There will be five of us, including the short ones. Anyone need a place to crash on turkey-day?

Having lived through a toddler with a, shall we say, different wake/sleep cycle from the rest of us you have my prayers and sympathy!!

One inducement we tried that worked was offering The Boy an “in bed” amusement (a “stack of books”, a small car game…something that only appeared after bedtime) which he could use in his bed, without us. He eventually settled on a “stack of books” as his favorite thing to do in bed at 2 am, and for years we’d leave him his stack to browse (and a reading light that he could turn on and off).

…and what a marvelous turkey day treat! I have 8 people coming for dinner…but there will be lots of helping hands.

Second son was born at 38 weeks….so I don’t know what a 40 week or beyond pregnancy is like…one day at a time for a few more days…..very exciting days in your families with all these new beginnings and holidays!

38 weeks. Wow. Birthing prayers are beginning for you already.

Really cool church members! God bless ‘em! How far away is Polar Bear? She wrote recently that she has no Thanksgiving plans . . .

    Hey,
For evangleism, can y’all make the DVD to where it starts to smoke at the end to self- destruct?
Love that part and have the music.
#8 weeks. Wow, didn’t you JUST tell us you were preggers?
BTW, do ya know who I am yet?
If not, then e-mail me at my blog link.
