Does breaking one’s toe give one a chance to practice pain-coping techniques for labor?
Yes it does, though at least in labor the pain comes and goes, with a break between contractions.

Am I just the most pathetic specimen of a human being at this point?
Yes, I am.

Is it time for this to be over?
Most definitely.

Oh, man. That is just really, really wrong. Let me channel Great-Aunt Louise for a moment: “You poor thang! Bless yer heart!”

    I hope it helps. :)

  2. 2 Mindy

So so sorry. Wish I could rub your shoulders and paint your toe nails. I would be extra careful with the owie one.

  3. 3 reverendmother

    Y’all are both sweet.

  4. 4 Ashley Goff

At this point, have a drink!

  5. 5 esperanza

oh, pobrecita. If it’s not one thing, it’s another, no? Sounds like one of those days…

  6. 6 towanda

    Ouchie…so sorry!

  7. 7 Kelley

Hang in there. We are all thinking about you.

  8. 8 Sue

Oooooo…..ouch! Maybe this is a good reason to sit and put your feet up???

  9. 9 ppb

How did you break your toe?

I hereby exempt you from labor.

Who do I have to write a note to?

  10. 10 reverendmother

Nothing very interesting, just whacked it on a piece of furniture.

    Ow!
This is awful and I hope it comes with a good story. (I once broke my toe kicking the bathroom scales.) More a commentary on my lack of coordination than a weigh-in.

  12. 12 Jonah

I have a mysterious owie on my left “ring” toe, so I sympathize. Hope you heal soon.

brings back a memory of going to a formal affair in a black sequin dress w/ a red leather 70’s clog protecting a broken toe on one foot and a strappy black sandle on the other foot to prove that i knew better than to wear red leather clogs to a formal affair.

    have you buddy-taped your toes?

this gives you a reason to sit on your throne w/ your foot propped up and a good book on your lap. (oh, i’m forgetting you have 2 active girls and a mile-long list of things to accomplish before bb arrives.) heal well.

  14. 14 Mary Beth

Oh MAN! What PPB said. I’ll write the supporting letter.

  15. 15 Ruth

What a bummer! Easy to whack your toe when you can’t see your feet anymore, right! I agree that you are allowed medicinal brandy at this point, BB’s brain is all developed, and a little relaxation may induce him to just come out and join the party. Which would be a good thing. Done, yes, time to be done!

  16. 16 reverendmother

The upside of BB delaying at least another day would be the chance to be with the Writing Revs tomorrow, Ruth! Otherwise—yes. Make It Stop.

  17. 17 reverendmother

And Jonah, that is the exact same toe that I hurt. Weird.

  18. 18 Sarah

OK, this is definitely one of those “memories” that you will share one day with BB and smile but not.right.now. It is a “life’s not fair” moment indeed.
