It’s snowing!
Sweet baby J is (dare I say this out loud) developing a routine. Wakes up to nurse between 6:30 and 7 a.m., then dozes in our bed, then another snack and a morning nap, awake around 11:00 for quite a while, a couple of feedings close together, then a long afternoon nap, awake during dinner, with two or three feedings in the evening, and an evening nap, one final snack, then down around 10:30 until ??? in the middle of the night.
It’s nice, and it will change.
And he’s one week old today!
G-mommy is here. I hear thundering feet upstairs. I think they’re all playing hide and seek.
I am slowly crossing some things off the to-do list. I also finished reading A Thousand Splendid Suns, which was beautiful and devastating. Never got into Kite Runner but may give it a try now.
Mmm… sushi. At long last. (Haven’t had a margarita yet.)
That is all.

» I’m looking for some new online reading materials–blogs, zines, whatever. Creative yet accessible, inspiring but not schmaltzy, smart but not impenetrable. Recommendations welcome.
» The latest on SBJ: at one year, he weighs 30.5 pounds (99%), is 32 inches tall (97%) and is 100% cute.
» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.

I Just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns last Saturday. Yup–both beautiful and devastating.
Congrats on the baby routine, even though it will indeed change. Enjoy it today!
i’m on my way to book group (starts in 5 min) to discuss a thousand splendid suns. i liked the writing better in kite runner. both are excellent stories.
Glad to know you and J are doing well. The Kite Runner wore my heart out. I’ll tackle Thousand in ‘08.
Why have a to-do list? Isn’t birthing a week ago enough to cover any list for many months? Take it easy, Sugar.
So nice to hear that things are good- I am thinking of you and just dying to get my hands on that baby.
Just thinking about you and J. and routine and hanging out makes me feel rested too. Enjoy.
I found The Kite Runner heart-breaking. Haven’t read Thousand.
I’m glad you have a routine beginning to emerge!
You are a wise woman - yes, as soon as there is routine it isn’t! Am finding Thousand Suns as you said - beautiful and devastating and figuring it will get even more so as it moves to a close.
One week old on the 5th?
Now I want to go and grab A Thousand Splendid Suns–can’t wait. Thank you.
