Forget the baby monitor, sling, or bottle warmer. Here’s the techy stuff that a new mom really can use:
- iPod. An obvious choice, perhaps, but indispensable for late-night nursing entertainment that doesn’t wake up wee bebe.
- Bluetooth handsfree device for cell phone. Let’s face it, life is all about multitasking. Chat with a friend while putting away the dishes, or while fumbling through those early days of nursing. Stay connected to the world!
- Laptop. I’m using one right now with a sleeping baby on my chest. Enough said.
- Itty bitty book light. That 5 a.m. feeding? Just bring the baby into bed with you. The light lets you make sure he’s positioned right for a good latch, without turning on the overhead light or lamp.
- Thumb thing. A little $3 piece of plastic that hooks into your thumb and holds your book open. Great for one-handed reading.

» I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
» Aaaaaand little she-who-is lost another tooth this week!
» SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!

Hmm, as one with cats (but not babies), I think that thumb thing would be really handy myself!
I want one of those thumb thingees…Santa? No, don’t need it for nursing (OBVIOUSLY) but I can see many uses for it –
-Pet kitty/Read
-Keep one hand under the covers on cold nights, Read (then when reading hand is frozen, switch)
-Eat/Read
-Blog/Read
-Hold grandchild/Read
-etc./Read
glance at worship book while reading….
Oh. I NEED the thumb thing. What a brilliant invention.
Seems like you have it goin’ there…good choices.
