Dear sweet baby j,

First let me say that no son of mine will ever hear from me that he shouldn’t cry. If Rosey Grier can cry, so can you.

But it’s estimated that we will change your diaper 6,000 times, and if you’re going to cry every single time, it’s going to be a long childhood.

Really, son. Six. Thousand. Times.

Might it be time to “accept the things you cannot change”?

Love,
Mommy

P.S. I’m sorry that I didn’t get the seat of your bouncer properly attached to the frame, resulting in you sliding out the bottom and onto the kitchen floor. That would be an appropriate time to cry.

Please don’t hate me when I tell you that I LOL’ed at your “accept the things…” statement.

(Remember, my my son is a big ol’ mean grown-up who doesn’t call his mother to let her know he’s alive when he is away in California for days and days on end. It’s a different kind of plight.)

You mean I need to take some of my own advice…? Touche!

Crying baby doesn’t unravel me like it used to. Not pleasant of course, but it’s like, “AGAIN with the tears? Honestly, kid… grin and bear it with the diaper changes.”

I was going to type “All things pass” but then reflected that, given the nature of sweet baby J’s particular grief, this might not be much consolation… ;-) So love to all concerned, instead

    RM, you crack me up.

Maybe SBJ has realized that he has to speak up in that #3 kid position.

My boys have always been pretty distractable on the changing table. Handing them just about anything stopped the tears.

Aw, poor baby… Here, have, um… have a shoe.

Catching up with you and yours… had to comment that I laughed out loud here too although it was about the baby seat.
