For the poetry workshop we received a freewriting prompt, to write a poem incorporating the words yes, once, circle and voice. Here is my (unedited) piece about going to see fireworks last night near the airport.

My heart is hurting for a friend right now, but I had to pass on the good news.

Tuesday morning is the ultrasound. We had an early u/s that suggested a boy, although
a) the tech said “don’t buy blue yet,” and
b) the midwife pooh-poohed trying to predict gender at 12 weeks. And yet,
c) the genitals have formed by then, which makes it technically possible to see something.
So……..
