SBJ has eczema all over his face. Just like his namesake, who suffered from it off and on his whole life.

I think it itches him because he rubs his face into our shoulder. It’s only on his face. We are drenching him in Eucerin but it doesn’t seem to do much.

Big :-(

——————–

I cheated on my maternity leave and went to a few hours of the session retreat this past weekend. We were discussing some very important issues and I felt it was important that I be there. But man, I was exhausted afterward. I hope I get my mojo back before March 4!

——————–

Little she-who-is turns five next week. She really wants a telescope, which is an impractical gift for a young child who lives in the light-polluted suburbs, no less. But we are trying to encourage her interest with some other gifts, and a trip to the planetarium this weekend.

——————–

The divine miss m still gets up in the middle of the night about every fourth or fifth day, sometimes more often. And she is up in the morning the minute she hears any stirring in the house. On the upside, she is the happiest little insomniac you’ve ever seen.

——————–

I walked today for 30 minutes with SBJ in the stroller.
Felt good.
But it was a comedy of errors.

The walk was fine, but when we got home he was way ready to nurse. I had to get out of the non-nursing bra before that could happen, which made him rather non-plussed. Then just when he got latched on, his diaper leaked pee all over me. Let’s call it a wardrobe malfunction. So I had to stop the feeding and change him which annoyed him further. Then as I went to sit down with him he bobbed his head such that it rammed right into my cheekbone. Sigh.

Ah well.

RM…I have a telescope (on tripod) that we are giving away (we were given two in one year). You are welcome to have it for C (after I check to make sure it is functioning). It is a nice one. And not to worry if you don’t want it.

Oh…and it is nice to hear tidbits from your sweet family.

You will get your mojo back one step at a time when the time is right. Not to worry. Enjoy the time remaining.

Oh how awesome, a little girl who loves the stars more than Disney princesses!

bob and i visited a “star party” sponsored by a northern virginia astronomy club several years ago. i’ll always recall one sweet threesome (dad and 2 kids). the kids kept asking, “is it time yet?” “is it time yet?” finally dad said, “it’s time.”

all 3 lay down on a big comforter and dad told the myth of one of the constellations. he told us that each time they go to a star party he tells about a different constellation. repeating them in a rotation over time. then after the story—embellished w/ great detail, the kids climbed into a little tent and went to sleep and he enjoyed using his big telescope with his star-gazing buddies.

c’s desire for a telescope also reminds me of the jody foster character in contact who learned her love of the skies from her dad.

We have our telescope set up in the breakfast room and use it to look closely at the high branches of trees, the birds, and the progress of the house being rebuilt behind us. Then we also have it to take to a less lighted area for star gazing.

So nice to hear about normal life. Stars. Walks. Even skin issues. (Our TBC also had this malady on arms and legs and seems to be just dandy.)

Hope the month goes by s-l-o-w-l-y - in a good, savoring every moment way.

Your nursing experience makes me laugh as I remember some of my own. It is not quite the beautiful woman in the flowing white robe sitting in the rocker with her calm newborn that some of the magizine articles show.

RM. also, in addition to the telescope…if you are worried about the light blocking stars…what about the Laser Stars Projector?

I got my niece an “indoor planetarium” (along the lines mentioned above): http://shop.nationalgeographic.com/product/759/3113/759.html

It’s definitely not the real thing, but it gets around the light pollution issue.
