The war in Iraq is five years old today, but let’s turn to a different five year old, the one living in my house.

Two quotes:

————

“Only things with heads can make noise.”
R and I spent an embarrassing amount of time pondering this hypothesis.

Does the person teaching the Parks and Rec science course know what s/he’s in for?

Also, she wants to be a Volcanologist Mommy when she grows up.

————

We were talking about Sweet Baby J’s caregiver, a woman with a preschool age daughter. C said, “So they’re going to put him in a new germ tub.”

????

We finally figured it out—we’ve talked to her a lot about germs and how they get transmitted among different groups of people. She meant germ pool.

Heads are where yells come from, aren’t they?

This morning I went into my three year olds’ room and said one of their names, and from the darkness this reasonable little voice hypothesized, “Yeah… I think I sleeping.”
