Cool Librarian e-mailed and said “Are you OK? You haven’t posted for a while.” It’s one of those things in which the longer I go without postig, the longer it would take to do a proper update, which means I put it off even longer… lather, rinse, repeat.

Here are the headlines:

——–

We are all adjusting well to our new routine, but dang it’s tiring.

——–

I am getting ready to go to the conference next week for New Church Development. They gave me a hard time for not staying at the hotel (it’s local), even though I had told them my family situation. Even though I had pledged to be there for all the scheduled events, they felt like I would miss something. Like what, midnight hot-tubbing? I later learned that another person had some family circumstances they were not willing to be flexible on.

(Are we about “a new thing” in the church or are we not, I must ask…) But in the end, they were willing to work with me. But you won’t believe the arrangements, what with getting M to and from preschool, meeting C at the bus stop at 3:30, and so forth. Whew!

R and I went last night to see Ghost Town. Great movie that’ll preach too.

The rest of my free time has been spent on another online writing workshop (this one on creative nonfiction) and working for… what’s that guy’s name? Hopey Changerson?

I’ve written notes to undecideds, knocked on doors, and even registered a few new voters here and there. I am planning to take a week’s vacation later this month to do some more work, and will perhaps take off some of Election Day. It’s exciting to be in a swing state, and I will be more at peace with whatever happens on November 4 if I’ve done all I can.

So, I think it would be best for my mental health to take an official break from blogging until then.

I do miss and enjoy blogging, but it feels like something that’s hanging over my head rather than a fun leisure activity. So rather than feel a niggling sense of guilt, I’ll just sign off until November 5, when God willing, the skinny black guy with the funny name will be our President-elect.

Thanks for being willing to spend the time and energy to support the skinny black guy. This seems to be a time when each vote really can make a difference, especially in our state.

Will be sharing your hopes and praying that this is indeed the outcome on election day. The alternative is frightening beyond belief…
Take care and try to find some time to breathe amid all that

miss hearing from you in this space but i know a person really CAN’T do everything. just do the one thing needful. . . whatever that is.
