Sweet baby J is 8 months today!
Is there any wonder your sister calls you the King of Hair?
Oh wait, wrong picture.
That’s the stuff.
Sweet Baby J on his seven-month birthday. We love your sparkle, SBJ!

I’m in a writing workshop this week at Downtown Cathedral. There are three workshop leaders—I am in BBT’s group. (Those who care already know; those who don’t know, don’t care.)
We have each morning free to write, then there are afternoon group sessions, individual conferences with our […]
I have been remiss in posting SBJ’s latest stats: 23 pounds and 27 inches at six months. Yes, I’ve got the big mama biceps.
Wow, it’s coming to me…
No, that’s not quite it…
Bingo.
Or perhaps
I walked along the avenue
I never thought I’d meet a girl like yoooou,
Meet a girl like yooooouuu…
SBJ is four months old, 19 pounds 5 ounces, and 26 inches tall. GIGANTOR!
The toddler and the baby are ASLEEP AT THE SAME TIME!!!
Make your guesses here as to how long that will last.
Remember when I used to write about stuff other than my children?
Yeah. That was awesome.
So I have five weeks of maternity leave left. The girls are still at ’school’ full-time these days, since I am still at a full-time salary level at the church, and it’s a blessing to have some time just with The […]
Since this is the closest thing I have to a baby book right now—”I don’t scrapbook; I pile chronologically”—I will report the stats from sweet baby j’s ped visit yesterday. Last time I said that he was in the 25 and 50%ile for some things. Turns out they had graphed his numbers wrong. At 15#7oz […]
Quotable Quotes from C, Dessert Edition…
“Cake is cake.”
“Whenever you say banana pudding, it’s going to make me dream of banana pudding and how good it is.”
Speaking of Mental Processes…
Apparently, sometimes unpleasant stuff comes into C’s head unbidden. Usually it’s the stepmother in Cinderella. She’s working on how to train her brain to think of something […]
We took sweet baby J for his one-month ped visit today. (You know the whole dog years thing? Well, did you know that for a third child, one month is really seven weeks? *cough*)
He’s 13 pounds 10 ounces, which is 50%ile. I can’t remember his height but that is 25%ile. I’d noticed he was looking […]
After hitting bottom two nights ago with the sleep, sweet baby j woke up only once last night. The cluster-feeding has improved as well.
Might we have turned a corner?
Even if it’s just a fluke, I’ll take it.
And he happily took another bottle. Of course I’m overjoyed for me, but also for R. Feeding a child […]
Dear sweet baby j,
First let me say that no son of mine will ever hear from me that he shouldn’t cry. If Rosey Grier can cry, so can you.
But it’s estimated that we will change your diaper 6,000 times, and if you’re going to cry every single time, it’s going to be a long childhood.
Really, […]
Sweet baby J took a bottle today on the first try!!!!!!!!! Glory, glory!!!
Dear Big Sister M,
Thank you for the wakeup call this morning. I can think of no better way to say “Up and At ‘Em” than inhaling and exhaling into a harmonica 18 inches from the head. It’s like “Reveille” for the toddler set.
I appreciate you not wanting me to sleep the day away. Though I […]
Kid for sale! Two weeks old, adorable, nurses All. The. Time.
And it seems like he’s always been with us.
Went to the ped today; all is well.
He has grown an inch—21.5 in.
He is 9 lbs 7 oz with a smallish head, compared to the girls’.
He’s perfect!
That’s all for now; I’m holding him and typing one-handed.
The umbilical cord stump fell off last night. [sniff] My baby’s growing up!
First, we are all doing well here. J had a visit with our ped today (our practice doesn’t go to the hospital where we delivered) and he’s fine, though they want to test his bilirubin again tomorrow morning. He’s also lost right at 10% of his birth weight, which is as much as they really […]
I took down the photos of the kids for reasons of long-term privacy. If you didn’t get to see them, e-mail me and I’ll see what I can do!
